Asivuke Business Growth Program

The Asivuke program adopts a sustainable model to help Township Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses adopt growth strategies and improve functional processes to achieve a traceable trading history credible for business expansion opportunities. We link them to best-suited market opportunities to circumvent access to capital challenges by demonstrating the ability to run profitable businesses. These businesses meet the Exempted Micro Enterprise (EME) criteria as defined in the Broad-Based Black Empowerment Equity (B-BBEE) as businesses with a turnover of fewer than R10 million rands.

Within mainstream Enterprise Development, many Township businesses are not catered for due to the demanding qualifying criteria imposed by program sponsors. This has created a class of the forgotten economy.

While the township sector is the ‘forgotten’ sector in many ways, it provides livelihoods, employment, and income for about 2.5 million workers and business owners. The annual entry of new enterprises is relatively high, as is the number of enterprises that grow their employment. This means that there is no shortage of business initiative and desire to succeed. (Fourie, 2021).
